Coils

Does accel or msd (or someone) make a coil that can be interchanged with the coils in our IDI? I was thinking of yanking out the 2 stock coils and putting some aftermarket units in there.

both companies do. i think i've even seen 'em in jegs or summitt. you might want to check their websites out.

you dont happen to have a part # do you? Even a GM part # would be fine... that way i can crossreference.

GMPartsDirect PN: 10472401 for a delco unit and it lists a "magnavox" type, PN: 12353801

let me know what you find. just got MSD-DIS installed and some better coils would be good.

so far nobody even on j-body.org has found a simple coil change out
...

most setups I've seen utilize two coils remote mounted somewhere else in the engine bay, spark plugs, and coil adaptors and some other minor shit.. looks purdy though..

in one issue of SCC when they did an article on Edelbrocks bottle fed cavalier "Manifold Destiny" it had an MSD box and it said it used "GM Dual tower style race coils"......dunno if that means GM has a better coil, but it might be worth researching.

i need better coils, mine like to die.
