I have a 95z24 cavalier which is a 2.3lo. I have been told by several places that I had a OBDII (because I have the same plug and such) but my question is that, if my car is set up for a 2.3lo with a OBDII would I still be able to swap a 2.3HO in there without needing to get a OBDI?
Thanks in advanced for the help.

i don't think that is the case. '95 2.3s were a transition year to make a gradual change over to the 2.4s, which are all obdII. early quads and quad H.O.s were all obdI, and need obdI electronics.
I think '94 and '95 were both kind of OBD1.5 transition years. Can't get codes off the '94 w/ paperclip the way you can with true OBDI cars...

It depends. is yours an Auto? If so you will have to swap ECMs. GM Used SEFI on the 95 2.3 Auto J-bodys. Which uses a cam sensor and no PROM chip. If its a stick then slap that puppy in there and get a custom chip from manta.

Yes my Cav is an auto, how hard would it be to swap ECM? If you know.
Thanks for all the help so far

IF I was you, I would consider selling your engine/tranny and then buying what you want. This way you don't run into countless problems trying to mix and match
