OK, so i did the swap today, but now my car runs like pooo, the throttle is really sensitive and if i dont keep my foot on the gas just slightly the car bucks wildly, the car idles funny to, and i think its running really rich. What could be the problems?

Make sure you have the right Idle Air Control Valve in there cause the wrond one or a clogged one will give you those symptoms.

yes, i was just about to say... you need to use the old 2.3 IAC if your using the 2.3 throttle body. The new one just doesn't fit right and will cause all sorts of goofy problems. Use the 2.3 throttle position sensor, too. Use the 2.4 MAF.

aswell as make sure yo uhave a tight seal on the gaskte,m the best thing to use would have been some black rtv gasket maker instead of the gasket you hack up when you modify everything to fit.
a leaky or under/over tightened manifold gasket will cause the car to idle like shit

Im also running the 2.3 TPS on the 2.3 TB, and i couldnt use the 95 throttle calbe bracket, but could use thte 2.4 one and i dont have the EGR pluged in. Is it ok to just remove the EGR all togehter?

So i went to autozone, and had them clear the codes, then right after they did i started it up backed it up and the check engine light came on agian. it was a P0108: Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor circuit high output.

you have to use the 2.4 map sensor, inthe insturctions listed on the site theres a hting that shows you how to modify it to fit. you would have been better off grabbing a 2.4 tb and using that for the time being, sacrifice a few hp for the headaches you save. aswell as save up for a biggre tb for the 2.4 and swap that when your ready

I was gonna say it sounded like a vacum leak or manifold pressure issue, but I guess that's been covered, lol.

Well i have a 1990 TB and i guess ill need to go buy a 93+ tb tomorrow (hopfully the yard im going to will have one) but im wondering, i can use any TB off a 93+ 2.3 no matter what it is (LD2, LGO, L40) and then i can use the 95 throttle cable bracket i have. How does this hook up to the TB, anyone have pictures?
Now this is how everything is set up, i have the FPR tube hooked to the manifold, some wire that comes from the area of the alternater to the manifold, the map sensor to the TB, the brake booster (that hard pipe) to the TB, and i think i have another line to the TB cant think of what it is now.

Im using the 2.4 IAC the 2.3 TPS and the 2.4 MAP (what you say MAF and im saying MAP whats the difference?)

maf = mass air flow, not on the J cars
map = manifold absolute pressure, on the j cars.
when I swapped the manifold, I kep getting a map low voltage, every time I started it. Now I'm using an 01 Aztek map sensor (resoldered a new connector) and all works fine

one thing too, you should be able to use the stock throttlw cable brackets if you just go ahead and reroute things a little, mainly the cruise control box, flip is 180 degrees or move it more towards the drivers side a bit and you should be fine. im gonna go round 2 with this thing soon as i have a spare head now i can match everythign up to ad then go and not worry about nayhting

The 2.4 IAC is half your problem.
I meant MAP, sorry, maf came out. ooops.

so i went and bought a 2.3 IAC, the car runs a hell of alot better now, i also put the MAP on the manifold (i had it on the TB before) then i put the hose that comes from over by the alternater on the TB like it was stock. i still have a little looping idle at times, so i guess i have to work that out, and i can still smell a strong/rich smelling exhuast (i think i may have not tightened down the EGR block off plate enough idk) and i didnt port match the head at all b.c im going to get one of those plates and have it welded on. but i think im cool for the time being.
Thanks to everyone for the help so far.

j/w.....you dont have a check engine light do you?

yea about 20 miles after i ran it when i put it on the frist time my cel came on....when i put the stocker back on it was gone....so i figured it was my erg, cause i used the 2.4 t/b and all the same sensors and stuff

Yea i was throughing like 5 codes, but my car is running alot better since i put the right IAC on so im probably not throughing that many now, i guess i should go back to autozone sometime this week.
Also for the EGR block off black, should i have used like a liquid gasket sealer with the gasket that came with it, b/c im smelling alittle exhuast from the engine and i think i just didnt tighten the bolts down enough or i should use some type of seal.

why dont you just get an exhaust gasket from a 99+ that blocks it all off from the exhaust side?
if i ever get time to go rounds with this again (damn school) thats what i'm doing...and that erg simulator looks like a hell of a good idea
