OK. So here's my problem. Recently I've had this grinding noise everytime the RPMs dropped (like when I shift or turn the car off). Well, I decided to look at a few things and to my suprise, the oil was damn near 100% gone! So I filled it up with 2 quarts of 10w 30 and it says "add 1 quart". So I go to get in it today to go get the other quart and started it up. While it was trying to start I noticed a loud knocking. When the car started and idled, the knocking didn't go away. So I popped the hood to see if I could tell where it was coming from (for the past week or so I've had a ticking but I assumed it was just the timing chain making the "normal Quad 4 noise". Atleast, that what Ive had people tell me. Im hoping it's just the lifters or something reletivly inexpensive to fix because I just had a new clutch put in (bye bye 600 bucks) and Im still trying to pay my parents back fro that. This really couldn't have come at a worse time. PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME!!!:(

Sorry:( Sounds like you did some MAJOR damage to the engine. Possibly your crank is toast.

Yeah, you're most likely going to need a full rebuild after that. Ouch man, really wanted to roll black GTZ's together...

Im thinkin we still can. I'm having Stephanie come up from IL tommorrow with a used Quad that we're swapping it out for. Problem was huge. Solution: Get a new Quad.

yeah, if you're running on no oil, say bye bye to main and rod bearings, crank, rods, lifters, and a host of other things. that quad bit the dust. iron dust, that is.

Nothing like a simple solution to a big problem.

How many miles on the quad? How much would that cost you? Wow, if they could find one for me if it was the right price... I'd beat the piss outta the motor I got now

make sure you check the oil a little more often on the next one...

Will do. Tjhat is, If I even get it now...My parents had a big fit about it and now they won't let me do it until they know that's what's wrong (which is stupid to me and only makes me go without a car for that much longer. So, now I have to spend an additional 80 bucks on towing to get it checked out, AND pay to get it check out. That's some BS eh?

Borrowing money from the parents comes with stipulations. That's why its better to get things with your OWN money so Dad can't bitch about it :)

Been there, done that.

Ok then...It went away for a while but came back again tonight. It's actually more of something like the rany because it stops after you put some gas down. Plus it's a little too soft to be a rod knock. Eh, maybe I'll just get the tranny from that quad. Also, I have no idea how many miles are on the Quad. It was in 2 different cars and mine would be the third.

It sounds like you dont have a clue what exactly the problem is, so with your parents wanting you to get it checked out,it now doesnt sound like a bad idea because you seem a little clueless about it.

I actually am. I was sure it was a rod knock though....seems a bit too soft now but I think I'll get it checked out. I'll have to find a way to get to work and back for a while though...
