rough idle

Last night my 96 grand am 2.4L started running rough while idling, this is after running for about 10 minutes with no problems. While applying slight pressure to the throttle the car sounded like it wanted to quit. The car remained like this for about 10 minutes in my driveway, then I decided to shut the car off just to see if it would go away. I restarted the car immediately after shutting it off and the car started to run completely fine. I don’t like when my car does anything like this, cars just don’t fix them self. If anyone has an idea, please feel free to help!

perhaps you have excessive carbon buildup in your throttle body and the iac was being lazy or your throttle plate gooey? Those 2.4's are really nasty in the intake manifold. or maybe 02 sensor?

The check engine light popped on today, it is most likely the catalytic converter on preforming to spec. 160k miles and niether of the O2 sensor have been changed, i just haven't wanted to dump that much money into it.

But i will check the intake to see if the trottle body is nasty, good looking out!
