Say, I have a 97 Pont. GA w/the 2.4 and 120k miles. When you start it up cold it will sound normal(valve train)but as the engine warms to oper. temp. you will begin to hear a ticking noise from the right cam(or appears to be).If you crack the throttle it will really get loud. Sound like a loose valve guide to me.Any ideas.............thanks :confused: :confused: :beer:

Does the noise sound like it's coming from Number 1cyl area or 4?

MINE HAS THAT SAME TICKING SOUND BUT CANT FIND WHERE IT COMES FROM WHEN YOU FIGURE IT OUT WHAT IT IS LET US KNOW

The ticking seems to be coming from the cam timing/#1 cyl. area. I thought also that mybe the chain tensioner wore out and caused the chain to hit something.............gofastpilot:banghead:
