I've got the posted sequences for the other castings (753/303/456/086/955) ... they are both VERY similar star patterns from the center out ... I am using a factory style multi-layer-steel gasket with a freshly rebuilt 683-18 head (looks great ... I HIGHLY recommend eBay seller race114183 ) and fresh head bolts...
I'm at the point where I'm fighting with the timing cover before pulling the cam towers out (intake/exhaust manifolds are out ,, cam towers are loose) I have the same erosion failure of the water neck I found in an early post in this forum when I set it to "from the beginning..." ,, guess I can change that out later ,, silicone for now..
So far so good .. only lost one socket into the bowels of this beast so far ,, too bad it was my best 10mm... maybe I'll find it later..
How do you verify "0" on the timing when re-assembling?? this would be for both the cams and the crank..
