so i got one of these froma friend of mine and its supposed to bump the timing or something, anyways, it goes onto the iat sensor wires, anyone heard of one of these and have anything to say about them? is it the same as the resistor mod?

rip off!

It does nothing. I hope you didn't pay $ for it.

I'd leave the IAT the way it's supposed to be ;)

Best thing to do is move the IAT forward in the intake stream, safer, and just as effective.

i had the resistor mod and i mena there wsa nothing, and i got this thing really cheap so ill give it a shot and see what it does, i mean if anything ill sell it to some plug who thinks an air intake adds 40 hp. lol

its weird, i put it in, reset the ecu, and fire up the car and it revs up smoother, fred her some 94, got the computer over to go fast burn lots of fuel mode and the car felt stronger and smoother, could al be mental but my buddy mike even noticed it was moving good, even with 3 of us in the car it had no problem doing its thing. coul dbe its just working well with the other mods or something, meh, not bad for $20 :D

Actually, your car runs better because you reset the ECM. The ECM is meant to give you the best fuel economy / emissions possible. When you reset the ECM, it goes into a slightly richer mode.. so your car actually DOES run a little better.

yeah thats what it ended up being, usually when i reset it its only unhooked for a half hour but i let her sit for quite a bit longer and the car was just so happy, lol.

she back to normal now, oh well, not a big deal, ill sell it to some ricer in a cavy, lol

best thing i've found is that the iat *needs* to sit in the intake stream... scott is right, move it down farther in the tube, but don't screw with the wiring using any kind of resister. "Relocating" the iat doesn't do much either. It ends up getting dirty, and the temp readings get screwed up. Actually lost performance this way... had to take the iat, wash it off, and plugged it back into my intake where it should have been. After a lil bit i seemed to get back some pep.

well heres a question for you, what do i do witht he iat once i strt to run the turbo? i mean i cant just plug it into anywhere, ill eithre need to use the resistor to make the car think its a certain temp, because aynthing below like 75 degrees theres no difference and the resistor does that, and i dont wanna plug it into the intake and risk having it pop out under boost or anything

that's a good question, actually...

if you go turbo, you should be getting an fmu. I don't know if fmu's use IAT sensors... if not, don't worry about it. But, don't try a turbo setup with the stock ECM.
