Site financing

We are a 100% user supported web site, and have been since the beginning if 2008.
Up to this point 99% of the finances have come from us exclusively.

We need to get the ball rolling on having people sign up for memberships, if we wish do do anything fun, like order stickers, T-shirts, or calenders, we need to have money that is put aside which we can reach into... so any money we get from membership fees will either go directly into site costs, or go into purchasing stuff, which we *should* get back from selling of items.

Rather than direct you to an old-moldy thread, I'll recap how the memberships work;
  1. Premium” membership;
    -Yearly cost of $25
    -PM mailbox message limit raised to 300 messages.
    -access to a feedback/suggestions sub forum

    Note: If you are interested in some kind of moderation level of responsibility we ask that you at least be a Premium member;
    Your willingness to be a paid member will show your commitment/betterment to the site, which is what we would like to see from any moderators.

  2. "Premium Business” membership;
    -Yearly cost of $50
    -PM mailbox message limit raised to 500 messages.
    -access to a feedback/suggestions sub forum
    -Dedicated subforum that you can moderate posts on, and advertise your items/ service(s) to the community.

    Note: PM me if you need any more information, or with any questions you might have.

There you have it.

If you have made any donation(s) to the site that equal or exceed membership fees, we will automatically bump you to a "Premium Member".

The better response we get with this, the sooner we can shift to fun things like stopping debating on how to make shirts, and simply doing it... ditto with stickers as well as any possible calender.

We'ld all really appreciate it if members would seriously consider donating to get Premium or Premium Business memberships.

We're about to have our server fees due (Josh covered us till some time in February), and it would be great to have the money in place to cover the fees...
I should also re-clarify that any extra money goes towards t-shirts, stickers, or any other site "stuff" that membership would be interested in getting made up.

We currently have four Premium members, and one Premium Business member.
To the best of my knowledge, everything is working perfectly(!)
We have had some hiccups with paypal, but that all seems to be ironed out now.

If you would like to see some changes to the membership "perks" please message me directly with your suggestion(s) - since our membership structure was decided upon, we have been able to really clean up the database, and may be able to offer more, if it would be a make it or break it feature for some of you out there (any changes would be retroactive; eg; everyone would see it)

Jonathan

we're not trying to "convince" anyone to donate to the site.

as to past issues with the site or donations made prior to the site being purchased by the current owners... there's nothing useful I can add there.

Thanks for the kind words(!)

We apprecaite even the consideration of donating.

We would also never ask for you to donate if you can't afford it(!)

since we have room, the PM box limits have been upped for paid members.

originally it looked like this;

Premium Member = 200 PM limit
Premium Business Member = 400 PM limit

now it looks like this;

Premium Member = 300 PM limit
Premium Business Member = 500 PM limit

we will also take into serious consideration if the current 'Business' membership doesn't fit what you'ld like - PM me if you would like to see something else, and I'll see if we can accommodate you.

thanks!!

OK, you guys are awesome!

So we had enough money to cover site fees, and still had a couple more people sign up for memberships.

Could I ask one small favor?
Weather you paypal, or send payment in the mail, could you please indicate your username with the payment?
I'm probably spending alot of time trying to figure out who the membership money came from....
I just gave up looking for one members name after scouring through the about 200 pages (seriously!) of the chat history...

We will be looking into getting some merch happening in the short term future.

For any subscribed members, I can now also make your username appear bolded in one of a number of colours...
Aparently this is something that appealed to some people, so I simply made it happen.
This is a small enough deal, that I'm not editing the first post in this thread to add it, by default I'll make your name appear in bold/green - if you want something else, PM me.

FYI: right now, bold/red is reserved for admin. exclusively
