GTZ exhaust setup?

My current exhaust is getting rusted....I plan to upgrade to a 2.5" piping but am unsure on what muffler to get. I "DONT" want a fart can. I like the stock exhaust tips so what muffler do ya'll suggest? I love how the car sounds now so I dont want to hear muffler....currently I hear the engine when I redline...so i dont want that raspy sound.

any performance muffler is going to get raspy. some are morse than others, but they will all do it if they are free flowing. that being said, any super turbo muffler wont sounds THAT bad and arent much louder than stock. probably the best sounding muffler ive heard is a borla ss muffler but they are fucking LOUD. a magnaflow would be right behind it in terms of sound.

Im going with 2.5" piping, a high flow cat converter, and maybe a resonator. I was thinking about the 60 series delta Flowmasters muffler?

I have a magnaflow with resonator and it sounds great not ricely at all but it defiantely can get very loud. Also it can cause much confusion when ordering in for drivethrus lol.

Those from what I was shown, flow terrible. Anyway you cut it, it's going to be louder than stock by a lot in order to get the most out of an exhaust system.

Mine sounds like ass (My opinion) mid range and I have a "turbo" muffler. I want to re do mine really bad!

By "ass" I mean "ricetastic & raspy" . I have 2.5" DP to tip, also I don't run a cat or resonator.

Most my other cars have no cats and they sound pretty stock with an exception of a slightly DEEPER ex-note.

My quad had a nice sound with a glasspack instant of a cat and a dynomax super turbo muffler.

Watch this ->
It also had W41 Cams at this time but stock exhaust, only changes was a glasspack and the dynomax. Sounded pretty nice, especially in low rpms. And it wasnt ricey, maybe a bit in high rpms but not that much as you guys think.

Thread jack...
Which exhaust setup would you guys recommend for a 90 GTZ 2.3 being used for dirt track use only? A sound limit isn't required but, I would rather not have it crazy loud.

DOHC_tuner, along with the other comments recommending running a (high-flow) cat, that's what I did -- I am running a high-flow cat mainly for the sound attenuation properties. (sure, I support improved emissions if easy/possible, too, but mainly I wanted the sound attenuation) Then I run that into a Borla 2.5" straight-through muffler. All my pipe is 2.5" mandrel bent.

It sounds "louder", but is not obnoxiously loud. I have gotten comments from people who say it is the best sounding 4-cylinder (NA) that they have ever heard!

One of these days maybe I can get some good sound clips recorded!.....

Jeff
